# Connect your domain

> Point your own domain to your store with two DNS records, check that it worked, and get your free SSL certificate — or use a free nijees.in address with no DNS at all.

Product: NijeesWeb online store builder · Source: https://www.nijeesweb.com/docs/ecommerce/getting-started/connect-your-domain · Updated 2026-10-06

Your store runs on our servers, but your domain is registered somewhere else — with GoDaddy, Hostinger, BigRock, Namecheap or another registrar. **Connecting** the two means adding two DNS records at your registrar so that your domain points to your store.

## Using a free nijees.in address?

Then there is nothing to do. Every address on `nijees.in` already points to the store servers, so a store set up as `ashafashion.nijees.in` opens as soon as it is created, at `https://www.ashafashion.nijees.in`, with its SSL certificate issued automatically. Skip to [Sign in to your store](https://www.nijeesweb.com/docs/ecommerce/getting-started/first-sign-in).

## Using your own domain

> [!IMPORTANT]
> **Add the records before you pay, or within two hours of paying.** Your store's SSL certificate is requested automatically, every minute, for the first two hours after the store is created. If your domain only starts pointing to us after that, the store works but without the padlock until we issue the certificate — [contact support](https://www.nijeesweb.com/contact?topic=domain) and we will do it for you.

### The records to add

| Type | Name / Host | Value / Points to | TTL |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| A | `@` | `13.204.177.255` | Automatic (or 1 hour) |
| A | `www` | `13.204.177.255` | Automatic (or 1 hour) |

- **`@`** means the domain itself (`ashafashion.in`). Some registrars want the field left blank, or the full domain typed in, instead of `@`.
- **`www`** covers `www.ashafashion.in`. **This one matters most:** your store's main address is the `www.` one, and the bare domain forwards to it.

Then **delete any other records with the same names** that point elsewhere — another `A` record for `@` or `www`, an `AAAA` record (an IPv6 address), or a `CNAME` on `www`. Old records are the most common reason a domain keeps showing a parking page or an old site.

> [!NOTE]
> Do not change your **MX** records. They handle your email, and your email keeps working exactly as before.

### Step by step at your registrar

1. Sign in to the website where you bought your domain.
2. Open your list of domains and choose the one you used for your store.
3. Find **DNS**, **DNS management**, **Manage DNS** or **Zone editor**.
4. Edit the existing `A` record for `@` — or add one — and set its value to `13.204.177.255`.
5. Do the same for `www`. If `www` is a `CNAME`, delete it and add an `A` record instead.
6. Save. The rest happens on its own.

### Tips for popular registrars

- **GoDaddy** — *My Products → Domains → DNS*. GoDaddy adds a parking `A` record for `@` to new domains: edit it rather than adding a second one.
- **Hostinger** — *Domains → Manage → DNS / Nameservers*. If the domain shows other nameservers, edit the records wherever those nameservers are managed.
- **BigRock** and **ResellerClub** — *Manage Domain → DNS Management*. The domain must use the registrar's own nameservers, or the records you add do nothing.
- **Namecheap** — *Domain List → Manage → Advanced DNS*. Remove the *URL Redirect Record* and the *CNAME* for `www` that Namecheap adds by default.
- **Cloudflare** — add both `A` records as **DNS only** (grey cloud), not *Proxied*, at least until your SSL certificate has been issued.

### Using a subdomain of your own domain

A store can live on a subdomain such as `shop.yourbrand.in`. Enter the subdomain as the store domain when you set up, then add the records with the subdomain in the name:

| Type | Name / Host | Value |
| --- | --- | --- |
| A | `shop` | `13.204.177.255` |
| A | `www.shop` | `13.204.177.255` |

## How long it takes

DNS changes usually spread within **15 minutes to a few hours**, occasionally up to 48 hours. Until then some people may still see the old page — that is normal.

## Check that it worked

- Open `https://www.ashafashion.in` (your domain) in a private browser window. You should see your store with a padlock in the address bar.
- Or look the domain up on a DNS checker such as [dnschecker.org](https://dnschecker.org): type `www.` plus your domain, choose **A**, and you should see `13.204.177.255` in most locations.

If your store is not showing after a few hours, [Domain and SSL problems](https://www.nijeesweb.com/docs/ecommerce/troubleshooting/domain-and-ssl) walks through every cause.

## Common questions

### Do I need to change my nameservers?
No. Keep your current nameservers and add the two `A` records. Changing nameservers can break your email.

### Will my email stop working?
No. Email uses `MX` records, which you do not touch.

### The page says "We couldn't find this store"
Your domain already points to the store servers, but no store uses that exact address. Check you typed the domain on the set-up page exactly as you are visiting it — see [Store offline](https://www.nijeesweb.com/docs/ecommerce/troubleshooting/store-offline).

### Can I switch from a nijees.in address to my own domain later?
Yes. Add the DNS records above for your domain, then [ask support](https://www.nijeesweb.com/contact?topic=domain) to attach it to your store. Your products and orders stay exactly as they are.
