Paytm's gateway takes the Paytm wallet, UPI, cards and net banking. It accepts **INR** only, and refunds can be issued from your admin.

## 1. Get your credentials

In the Paytm Business dashboard, go to **Developer settings → API keys** and note the **Merchant ID (MID)** and the **Merchant key**. Paytm gives separate test and production pairs.

## 2. Add Paytm to your store

1. Go to **Payments → Add gateway → Paytm**. Its settings open.
2. Set **Environment** to **Test / sandbox**.
3. Fill in the **Merchant ID (MID)** and **Merchant key**.
4. **Website** — `WEBSTAGING` while testing; `DEFAULT` (or the website name Paytm gave you) when live.
5. Select **Save changes**.

## 3. Test, then go live

Set **Switch it on** to **Admins only**, place a test order as an admin, and check that it turns **Paid**. Then set **Environment** to **Live**, enter the production MID and key, change **Website** to `DEFAULT`, and set **Switch it on** to **Live**. See [Test before going live](https://www.nijeesweb.com/docs/ecommerce/payments/test-before-going-live).

> [!TIP]
> If live payments fail straight after switching, check **Website**: leaving it on `WEBSTAGING` with live credentials is the most common Paytm mistake.
