If your website uses Google Analytics or other tracking, it is good practice — and in many countries a legal requirement — to ask visitors first. The cookie consent bar does exactly that.

## Turn it on

1. Open **Settings › General Settings** › **Maps, analytics & cookies**.
2. Switch on **Cookie consent** — *Ask visitors before setting analytics cookies*.
3. Optionally change the wording — *leave any of these blank to use the default English wording*:
   - **Banner Title** — *We use cookies*
   - **Banner Message**
   - **Accept Button** — *Accept all*
   - **Reject Button** — *Necessary only*
4. **Cookie Policy Link** and its **Link Text** — a page on your site (`/cookie-policy`) or a full `https://` address.
5. Save.

## What it does

*While this is on, your Google Analytics snippet is not loaded at all until the visitor chooses "Accept all" — so no tracking cookie is set before they agree.* Sign-in and security cookies are always allowed: the site cannot work without them, and they need no consent.

## Let visitors change their mind

Add a link to `#cookie-settings` anywhere — in your footer, for example, with the text *Cookie settings*. Clicking it reopens the banner.

> [!NOTE]
> A cookie bar is not a privacy policy. If your forms collect personal details, also publish a page explaining what you collect and why.
