My website isn't showing on Google
The checks to run when your site or a page doesn't appear in Google — from a hidden robots.txt mistake to Search Console's indexing report.
Work through these in order.
1. Is it simply too new?#
A brand-new site can take a few days to a few weeks to appear, even for its own name. Speed it up: add it to Search Console, submit the sitemap, and use Request indexing on your home page.
Check whether Google knows your site: search for site:yourdomain.in. If nothing appears, Google hasn't indexed it yet.
2. Is something telling Google to stay away?#
Open https://yourdomain/robots.txt. If you see:
User-agent: *
Disallow: /
your site is blocking all search engines. This only happens if someone added a custom robots.txt file. Delete it — see Custom files — and the correct, generated file comes back.
Also check in Search Console's URL inspection whether the page says Excluded by 'noindex' tag. If it does, contact support.
3. Is the page reachable?#
- Is the page Active in Info Pages?
- Is it in your menu, or linked from another page? Pages nobody links to are found slowly.
- Is it in your sitemap? Open
https://yourdomain/sitemap.xmland look for it.
4. Is it the best answer?#
If Google has indexed the page (it appears for site:yourdomain.in) but not for the searches you want, it is a content question:
- Does the page clearly say what you offer and where — in its title, first heading and first paragraph?
- Is there one page per service?
- Is your Google Business Profile complete, with your website address and the same name, address and phone?
- Do other sites mention or link to you?
