Guest checkout
Customers can buy without creating an account — what they fill in, how they see their order afterwards, and what guests cannot do.
Forcing people to create an account loses sales. Your store lets customers check out as guests: they fill in their details and address at checkout and pay, with no password.
What a guest fills in#
At checkout: their name, email, phone and delivery address (with pincode), a billing address if different, and the payment method. The pincode is checked against your delivery area before they can continue — see Delivery pincodes.
Their cart is kept in the browser. If they sign in or create an account later on the same device, the cart is carried over.
Seeing the order afterwards#
Guests see their order on the confirmation page straight after paying. Later, they can look up their orders at yourdomain/guest/access:
- They enter their name and the email they used at checkout.
- They receive an email with a link (subject Access your special page).
- The link opens their orders, with status, tracking and the option to cancel, return or exchange where your policy allows.
What guests cannot do#
- Save addresses or a wishlist.
- Receive or spend store credit — refunds that would be store credit are paid manually instead.
- Use coupons — coupons apply to signed-in customers only.
- Use a payment method you have limited to Signed-in customers.
Guest orders in your admin#
Guest orders appear in Orders like any other, marked GUEST, with the customer's name and email from the delivery address.
Turning guest checkout off#
Guest checkout is on for every store. If you want every customer to have an account, contact support.
